Testing is not important...
...Because we have few production problems, so why do we need to improve our testing process?
...and we use SaaS applications, they are tested by the vendor.
...our administrators know exactly what to test. Why else do they have to do it?
So why are we still testing?
Everyone understands, of course, that testing does matter. Take, for example, a SaaS vendor that comes out with a new release. Then, of course, you want to know if everything is still working properly within your IT landscape. Without testing this, there would be many more production problems....
So the question is: Can testing be done better and smarter? Is it necessary and useful to improve the current way of testing? The answer is simple. Every organization should strive for a professional testing process. Because complexity of IT landscapes is only growing and with it the chance of something going wrong. And so the impact of errors grows as well.
Testing is important though!
Do you see the importance of improving the testing process but your colleagues don't? Are they too busy to improve the testing process? So how are you going to change this and get them on board? In practice, you see that people do not want to spend time on this because they do not understand the need and benefit of better testing. We can help you get your colleagues to see why testing is only becoming more important and what test improvements you need to make.
Test-awareness
The resistance must be broken through and the question now is: how do you tackle this? Our advice: work on test-awareness. Make sure testing becomes top of mind with your colleagues. This leads to more insight into testing, and thus to understanding and ownership.
We'd love to help you increase your team's test awareness. We do this with an interactive workshop. In it we will work with your team to achieve the following objectives:
- Increase awareness, knowledge and engagement around testing.
- Demonstrate the importance of testing through speaking examples (We will determine this together in preparation).
- Moving toward uniform and transparent practices (testing policies).
The workshop takes one half-day session and is conducted at your location by an experienced testing consultant.
"The insights from Testersuite 's workshop give us a common language to address the testing process. That fits with how we as Waterschap Limburg are building for change: learning, improving and professionalizing together..."
Laurent Janissen, Waterschap Limburg.
