5. Insight is your burden of proof
Understanding quality helps you identify and mitigate risks earlier. Without a clear overview, you simply cannot demonstrate that you have quality under control.

6. Testing is underestimated, so prove your worth
Everyone thinks testing is important—until it comes down to scheduling and the budget. In practice, testing is often treated as the last, neglected item on the IT budget, while the role of the tester is still too often advisory rather than decision-making.

7. Basic knowledge remains essential
"We need to automate testing" is a common refrain, but without a solid understanding of the testing foundation, automation yields few benefits. First, get the fundamentals of test management in order; only then should you move on to the next step.
