Structured testing in Testersuite
Testersuite includes modules for managing products & requirements, designing & executing tests, recording & managing test findings (defects), and reporting on test coverage and progress.
To test a TOPdesk change, a test cycle is started in Testersuite. The scope of the test cycle is defined in the form of test products. Test products are the (sub)systems and/or (sub)processes to which the TOPdesk change relates. It is also possible to describe the (functional) operation of the test products in the form of separate requirements.
Test cases are designed for testing the change. The aim is to re-use as many test cases as possible that have been prepared in the past. When the test cases are ready, they are assigned to testers and executed.
If there are any defects defects during the tests, they can be registered immediately. By means of an automatic workflow between (business) testers and (external) developers, the resolution and (re)testing of the defects is properly managed.
With Testersuite , the coordinator of a test cycle can take control from one central location. A number of reports can be used to monitor the progress of the test cycle and test coverage across test products and requirements.
Reuse of test cases
Whenever a change is implemented in an application, in addition to testing the change itself, a check is made to determine whether unchanged, related parts of the application still work properly. This so-called regression testing lends itself perfectly to re-using test cases that were drawn up in the past. Yet, in practice, this happens too little and the wheel is always reinvented. A pity, because test knowledge is not secured within the organisation and a lot of time and money is unnecessarily wasted on devising and working out test cases.
Testersuite contains a module that easily supports the storage and reuse of test cases. In this so-called Masterlist module, a test set is built up for future use. This is done by writing the test cases to the Masterlist after completing a test cycle . When a TOPdesk change is tested in Testersuite , it is possible to transfer test cases from the Masterlist to the new test cycle.
