Release notes provide a good basis as a starting point for a test cycle. This is why we are seeing more and more Testersuite-users importing release notes into Testersuite.
Release notes are ideal for determining what and how to test in order to make sound go-live recommendations for a new release of an application.
Of course, it is important to know what you are going to import. Not everything from the release notes needs to be imported. Using an impact analysis beforehand, determine which items from the release notes are important for your organization to test.
Below we outline the best practice for importing release notes into Testersuite.
1. File upload
From your Testersuite environment, choose what to import, where to import it, and which file to use for this purpose. Want to know how your file should be laid out? Then download one of the sample files first.
2. Confirm file structure
You will then see an overview of the file you have uploaded. In this step you can check again if all desired data is present and correct in your import file.
3. Link fields
This step allows you to map fields from your import file with the fields of your test cycle in Testersuite. If there are differences between your import file and your Testersuite setup, you will automatically be shown alerts and notifications of these about the differences and how to resolve them.
4. Check
After linking the fields from your import file to the desired Testersuite fields, this step will show you a summary of what is actually created in Testersuite after you confirm the import. When this is approved you will proceed to the next step.
5. Import
In this step, your file is actually imported. You will see a progress bar on the screen showing the progress of the upload. Keep the tab in your browser open, and wait for the upload to complete. This will take a few seconds.
6. View results
In this last step, you will find an overview of the items Testersuite has created in your test cycle based on your import file. Here you can consult this overview, or if you wish, click through directly to get started with the items you just imported.
